There’s used equipment, and then there’s Cat® Certified Used. We take low-hour, well-maintained machines and inspect them inside and out. Once a machine meets our tough standards, we use only genuine Cat parts for service, complete all the required maintenance, back it with a Caterpillar warranty, and turn on the connectivity (if equipped).
Service History
Because many of the machines come right from our rental fleets, so you’ll know exactly how your machine was maintained. A documented service history is available, which allows you to make an informed decision. Having the complete service record in hand can help give you peace of mind when you’re ready to buy.
Up to 140 Points Inspected
Every machine must pass a comprehensive 140-point inspection. If that reveals any issues, highly-trained technicians service it using only genuine Cat parts. Our technicians also complete all the preventative maintenance like changing the filters and oil until the next scheduled interval.
Up to 5 Years Old
Cat Certified Used means the machines are not older than 5 years old. These machines deliver like-new quality and reliability, plus many of the same technologies and features as in newer models. Even though you’re buying used, you can still take advantage of new machine benefits like higher productivity, better fuel efficiency and greater comfort.
More Than 70 Components Protected
A Caterpillar Equipment Protection Plan (EPP) that covers more than 70 powertrain and hydraulics components comes standard—extending your protection beyond the original factory warranty and helping you limit unexpected repair bills.

Good as New, Inside and Out
For a used machine to earn the Cat Certified Used brand, all systems and components must be rated “Good” on a Caterpillar standard used inspection form by a trained inspector—no leaks, no visual damage, no mechanical or system problems, no excessive wear and no safety issues. That includes the:
- Hoses
- Cab
- Glass & Mirrors
- Work Tools
- Lights & Signal Lights
- Ground Engaging Tools
- Sheet Metal & Counterweights
- Undercarriage
- Cylinders
