Cat Compact with Compaction Meter Value (CMV)

Cat Compact with Compaction Meter Value (CMV)

Compaction Meter Value is an accelerometer-based system that provides an indication of material stiffness. The system is available on smooth drum vibratory soil compactors and tandem vibratory asphalt compactors. It measures only when the vibratory system is active, and provides a unitless value calculation derived from the recorded data that indicates composite stiffness.

Features

Consistent quality

    • Helps the operator produce uniform compaction. On asphalt applications, can help indicate base structure health.
    • Mapping correlates compaction measurements to location they were taken, allowing the operator to visually monitor progress, identify trouble spots, ensure coverage and uniformity
    Consistent quality

Optimizes efficiency

    • Empowers operator to determine when compaction meets target value and move on to the next job preventing unnecessary passes
    • Measures only when vibratory system is active
    • Provides indications of soil stiffness
    • CMV (Compaction Meter Value) is accelerometer-based
    • Measures deep: 1 to 1.2 m (3.3 to 4 ft), depending on materials
    • Mapping keeps track of pass counts and coverage while providing real time maps of compaction work
    Optimizes efficiency

Applications and machine types

    • Suitable for granular applications
    • FOR SOIL APPLICATIONS For smooth drum compactors only. It is capable of measuring from 1 to 1.2 m (3.3 - 4 ft) deep depending on site conditions and is suitable for use on granular soils. Not recommended on cohesive soils.
    • FOR ASPHALT APPLICATIONS utilizes drum-mounted accelerometers to measure and record composite stiffness of the asphalt layer, base layer, and sub-base material.
